Tamara Fisher is the K-12 Gifted Education Specialist for a school district located on an Indian Reservation in northwestern Montana. Tamara made her first mark on the world of Gifted Education as an undergraduate when she co-created a volunteer mentor program matching gifted college students with gifted youth, a program that still exists today. She is the President-Elect of Montana AGATE (Association of Gifted and Talented Education). In addition, she is a SENG facilitator for her District.

Tamara earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from Montana State University-Bozeman, where she was an Honors Scholar, and her M.A. in Gifted Education from the University of Connecticut. She was selected as the 2001 Polson Teacher of the Year and is a member of the honor societies of Phi Kappa Phi and Kappa Delta Pi. Tamara has presented at many local, state, and national Gifted Education conferences. She also helps at the local tribal college, teaching pre-service teachers about gifted students and their unique intellectual and social/emotional needs.

Tamara’s hobbies include drawing, painting, writing, hiking, four-wheeling, spending time with family and friends, and building houses. Her own home, which she built eight years ago, is shaped like a hexagon.
